Tree Grid Component

The goal of this project was to design and develop a common table component. The table could be used for data display, navigation, and editing. We wanted to make it versatile so it could be used in any Autodesk product. The consuming team would choose which pieces of functionality to consume.
We started by bringing designers, developers, architects, and product managers together. At this summit, we discussed product requirements, white boarded ideas and challenges, and determined priorities and schedules.
This design required mocking up different views of the same data and how the table component could be used. I had to consider navigation views, list views, grid views, and display views.
I also worked with another designer to build several interactive prototypes. We used these on usertesting.com to perform validation on our designs.
The final design needed to consider many elements such as icons, tabs, expand/collapse menus, and context menus. I had to design for success and error states and how to communicate to the user.
